First Time Home Buyers in Appleton Need to Know This…

first time home buyer in appleton wi

Hey you guys Carter here with Crowley Real Estate and CENTURY 21 and today we’re going to be talking about being a first time home buyer in the Appleton, Wisconsin area.

Some of the most common questions I get asked are the following: how much do I need to buy a house? What are my options as a first time home buyer? Is there any first time home buyer no down payment programs currently going on in the Wisconsin area? How to qualify to buy a house for the first time? I will be going over those topics throughout this post and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out, fill out the form down below as I would be very happy to help you out.

What Do You Need to Know When Buying Your First House

So to jump right into it, what do you need to know when you’re buying your first home in the Appleton, Wisconsin area? First things first, you should probably know what you can afford. The first step and the most beneficial step for you is to either talk with a real estate agent and get a referral for a lender, or go speak with a lender directly. They lender will be able to tell you how much you can afford based upon how much money you make, what debts you have, & your current monthly expenses. If you need a lender referral click here…

So that’s typically the first step when you’re buying your first home in the Appleton, Wisconsin area. Once you know how much you can afford, then you can actually start searching. If you want to jump way ahead of the game, you can start going to open houses before you ever talk to a lender, before you ever talk to a real estate agent, just to get your feet wet. Go through a few houses, see what you like, & what you don’t like. Open houses are a great resource for first time home buyers in the Appleton, Wisconsin area because you can go through 20 houses in any given Sunday rather than scheduling them with your agent and only being able to go through three or four at a single time.

Start Looking at First Time Houses For Sale

Once you get pre approved or talk with a lender, then you can start physically looking at houses in person with your real estate agent. Of course, I’m a real estate agent here in the Appleton area and I help first time home buyers. But there are some agents who do not like to help first time home buyers. They feel it’s a waste of time because houses typically aren’t as expensive & they feel like people are wasting their time. So, with that said I think it is crucial that you find someone who fits your personality, who knows what they’re talking about, who knows what they’re doing and is knowledgeable on the Fox Valley community you want to live in.

Your Realtor Should be Your Resource

Ask about the schools, ask about the neighborhoods, the parks, fun things to do, great restaurants to eat at, where you should be living, what neighborhoods are improving quicker than the others. These are all things you need to take into consideration as a first time home buyer. Without the proper agent and proper guidance, you could definitely make a mistake & regret your buying decision. Make sure to be informed, prepared, & willing to make a decision when looking at buying your first home.
